This year has had a deep impact on everyone, including those right here in our own community. Unfortunately, some of us have been affected more than others. Thankfully, the greater Austin area has groups and organizations that are designed to help those in need, but they can’t do it without your help. If you’re looking to make a difference this holiday season (and beyond), below are some Austin charities that are looking for your helping hand.
Austin Partners in Education. Since its founding in 1983, Austin Partners in Education (APIE) has been working to mentor students and set them up for successful higher education. They have trained over 16,000 tutors and mentors (one of whom is our very own CEO, Kevin Knebel) to work with and support more than 35,000 Austin students. You can help APIE by volunteering or donating, so they can continue changing students’ lives for years to come.
Center for Child Protection. The Center for Child Protection works to help children who have suffered from abuse go through the healing process by offering forensic, medical and therapy services. Because they provide this assistance free of charge, they need fellow Austinites to get involved and help support them. There are a variety of ways you can support the Center for Child Protection this year, from volunteering your time to virtual fundraising to donating items to their Kid’s Closet.
Make-a-Wish Central & South Texas. Nearly all of us have heard about the Make-a-Wish foundation — a charity that aims to make wishes come true for children with life-threatening illnesses and provide them with a greater sense of hope. If you want to give back to our community this year, consider getting involved with Make-a-Wish Central & South Texas, even if it’s something as small as donating your airline miles or hotel points.
Austin Wildlife Rescue. One of the most vulnerable parts of our community is the environment around us. That’s where the Austin Wildlife Rescue comes in. For more than four decades, they have worked to rehabilitate and release local wildlife and teach the public how to peacefully coexist with our furry and feathered friends. You can help sustain this noble cause through monthly donations and purchasing items from their Amazon Wishlist.
Austin Diaper Bank. When thinking of ways to give, it’s easy to forget about the smallest among us. The Austin Diaper Bank works to provide families in need with items like diapers and wipes. You can help support them by donating diapers or dollars.
Austin Disaster Relief Network. Over the last ten years, Austin has experienced more natural disasters than ever before. That’s why the Austin Disaster Relief Network works to prepare volunteers to respond quickly to any disaster, no matter the size. Through donations like yours, they’re able to provide immediate assistance to survivors, including the repair and rebuilding of homes.
As a business local to the Austin area, Crampt is deeply rooted in the community and the organizations that are created to support it and make it even better. When you store your belongings with us, you can feel good about supporting a local business that gives back to the company throughout the year — not just during the holidays. And because we believe in this community, we also give back through unparalleled service to all of our customers.
